Paul Goode, PhD

Paul Goode has extensive experience managing novel medical device therapies from basic research through product launch and into early commercialization.  Throughout his career, he has gather much experience in research, development, quality, clinical, regulatory and operations experience with various medical device companies.

He held several leadership positions at EndoStim, Inc., which was a medical device company developing and commercializing an electrical stimulation treatment for gastroesophageal reflux disease, including Senior Vice President of Research & Development, Chief Technology Officer, and interim Chief Executive Officer, all supporting development and commercialization of an implantable gastric stimulator for GERD. Paul also served as a cofounder and engineering consultant to Elira, Inc., a wearable neurostimulation company focused on developing drug-free products for appetite control. He also served as Vice President of Research & Development at MetaCure Inc., an implantable stimulator company for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and Director of Engineering at Impulse Dynamics Inc., an implantable stimulator company for the treatment of congestive heart failure.  Paul also served as Director of Engineering and Manager of Algorithm Development at DexCom, Inc., an early stage glucose sensor company at the time, now worth over $40B, which leverage his algorithms and electronics for 15 years. He started his career serving in engineering and scientific positions at Intermedics and Guidant Corporation, which both specialized in cardiac pacemakers and now are part of Boston Scientific Corporation.

Paul earned a Ph.D., an M.S. and a B.S. in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University and is the inventor on over 150 U.S. patents for six different companies.
