Judy Magruder, MBA

Judy Magruder has over 35 years of experience working across disciplines to advance development of a broad variety of product types and indications. She has led numerous teams from concept to first in man studies as well as to NDA submission.

Judy’s within company experience spans almost 10 years as a bench chemist / research scientist at ALZA Corporation, to Head of Development, responsible for clinical operations, regulatory affairs, quality assurance and program management at Durect Corporation. She was an officer of a company successfully closing an IPO for access to the public markets for financing. In subsequent roles, she was also responsible for Portfolio Management, Intellectual Property as well as DEA Compliance. She has been the lead contact for companies with DEA and FDA, managing communication, submissions and leading FDA meetings. Research efforts during her tenure as a research scientist resulted in issuance of over 50 US patents. Her consulting career began in 2004.

As a consultant, Judy’s breath of experience in heading up multiple disciplines, combined with effective program management skills enabled development of strategic product development plans for her clients, resulting in successful teams meeting key corporate milestones. Judy works with CEOs to help identify value inflection points relevant to financiers, and craft strategies and plans to communicate and meet those goals. She has developed and managed plans and programs for small molecules, biologics and drug device combination products in an array of therapeutic areas. Her roles often include management of CMC CMO’s and clinical / nonclinical CRO’s. Building and managing productive teams and effective critical path management are passions.

Judy provides Kinexum with insights gained from both in house roles as well as almost 20 years as a consultant to a wide variety of companies. She is effective working with a broad spectrum of talents, from bench chemists to CEOs, in both large and small, virtual companies.

Judy received her MBA from Santa Clara University, and her BS degree in Animal Science from the University of California Davis. She is the recipient of the Santa Clara Valley TWIN award (Tribute to women and Industry), an inductee into the Leavey School of Business IPO Hall of fame.
