Andrew Mosholder, MD, MPH

Dr. Andrew D. Mosholder has a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Virginia and a Master of Public Health degree from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has board certifications in Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and he is a Distinguished Life General Member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

In 2025 he retired from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after 32 years as a Medical Officer, in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research. During his first ten years at FDA, he worked in the Division of Neuropharmacological Drug Products evaluating clinical data on new psychiatric drugs, for Investigational New Drug (IND) applications, New Drug Applications (NDAs) for marketing approval, and postmarketing surveillance for approved psychiatric drugs.

He then transitioned to a position as an epidemiologist in the Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology, where he evaluated data on postmarketing safety of drug products, including pharmacovigilance data and real-world observational studies. He participated in the conduct of postmarketing safety studies using FDA’s data resources such as the Sentinel system, serving as the principal investigator on some of these studies. During his time at FDA, he had the privilege of mentoring several postdoctoral fellows in pharmacoepidemiology, and co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, in the role of principal investigator and first author on some, and senior investigator on others. He was a presenter at over a dozen FDA advisory committee meetings. Since retiring from FDA, he has provided consultative services to the pharmaceutical industry on Real World Evidence and drug development.
